ABOUT ME

Abstract Faded Yellow Gradient

Hello there! I'm Hlengz, AKA The African Endo Warrior. I'm a spirited 38-year-old from the enchanting lands of South Africa, living a life intertwined with endometriosis. By day, I'm a zealous Digital Communications Expert with a huge passion for work that focuses on climate and uplifting women and girls, but that's just the beginning of my story.

From savouring delectable cuisines to indulging in a glass of champers or fine wine, curling up with a compelling book, or embracing the cosy comfort of a Netflix binge with my loved ones – these are the little joys that fill my days. You'll often find me relishing picnics, exploring new corners of the world, swooning over elegant cars, mastering the tennis court, swimming a couple of laps where possible and immersing myself in the tranquility of yoga and pilates. Although my love for champers, wine and tennis might have taken a backseat due to endometriosis, my passion for these activities and for life remains unwavering. Yes, I now trade a glass of wine for a quiet evening with a glass of 0% alcohol something, something and choose activities that don't trigger flare-ups, but it's all part of my journey.

My lovely Sunshine and I have been married for nine tumultuous years, with our pride and joy a spoiled chihuahua fur-baby. Our dreams of starting a human family have been shaped by the unexpected challenges that led me to the hospital and eventually, my endometriosis diagnosis.

Throughout my life, I've naturally gravitated toward being a supportive figure for those seeking inspiration, guidance, camaraderie, or simply a listening ear. In 2021, my battle with diagnosis, symptoms, and the lack of local resources compelled me to take a more purposeful stance as an Endo Warrior.

This journey prompted the inception of my blog, The Endo - My Life, which has just recently transformed to Hlengz - The African Endo Warrior, a platform born from my mission to offer insights into my experiences, share knowledge, foster awareness, extend support, and ideally, catch the attention of the decision-makers about the gravity of endometriosis. As I tread this path, I've also found myself delving into feminine health and wellness – a space that my interactions with fellow endo warriors and those facing diverse challenges have brought into my focus.

Through my stories and information-sharing, I aspire to offer not just a window into my journey but also a spark of empowerment and a dose of inspiration.
